My name is Tam Widmann. I’m a Danish-German computational linguist with a passion for language, technology, and how they intersect. After spending 17 years in Scotland, I’m now based on the island of Funen in Denmark with my Scottish wife, our children and cats.
At university, I explored artificial intelligence in depth, studying under Brian Mayoh and Zbigniew Michalewicz, among others. These courses sparked a fascination with AI’s potential, even though career opportunities in the field were sparse in the early 2000s. As a result, I found my professional niche in computational lexicography – a field where language meets technology in ways just as fascinating and complex.
While my career has revolved around dictionaries and language data, my curiosity about AI and robotics has only grown. The Last Revolution? reflects this enduring interest, allowing me to explore the transformative potential of these technologies and share insights on how they’ll shape the future of humanity.
